U‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍se the readings throughout the semester as well as additional scholarly source materials. The paper should follow APA 7th edition (2020) guidelines for style, formatting, and referencing. The paper must not exceed 10 pages, double spaced (excluding title page and references). No abstract is needed. I will attach readings from the semester that are relevant. Below is my case scenario and my conversation with my professor about this paper: My case scenario is the patient is a 32-year-old Hispanic female who attends an annual GYN checkup; the nurse practitioner does routine blood work and pap smear. The pathologist detected severe cell changes and high-risk HPV in addition to low vitamin D levels on the blood test results. As a result, the patient was diagnosed with a High-grade Intraepithelial lesion and HPV 16/18/45. In addition, her vitamin D level was 12, which indicates deficiency. I explored the concept of adherence. This patient adhered to the treatment plan developed by her and her provider, which resulted in favorable outcomes. I am thinking of Nola Pender's Health Promotion Model, a mid-range theory in terms of nursing theory. I believe that many components of this theory relate to my case scenarios, such as committing to a plan of a‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍ction and health-promoting behaviors. Yes, the Health promotion model is a great fit here. As I mentioned in class it is my go to theory for directing patient assessment and education. It can definitely be used as part of shared decision making to develop an appropriate treatment plan to meets the patients needs while improving health outcomes. It could also be applied to assess your patients risk taking behaviors that might have exposed her to HPV in the first place and develop an action plan to reduce future risk. Thank you! Regarding the non-nursing theory, I like the Health Belief Model because it considers the patient's demographics, psychological influences, risks/benefits, and their action. Would there be too much overlap between these theories? Is that acceptable? You can definitely see overlap between the two models. But I think it is fine to use them both. It may be interesting to explore how Pender's model, which was developed after the Health Belief Model builds on those concepts through the influence of the nursing meta paradigm. I will attach the paper outline and the appropriate readings. I want to write this paper on the health belief model and health promotion model. 8 pages not including title page and referenc‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍e
