Use critical thinking and apply the information you learned in chapter 4. Be specific.  Explain how the body uses carbohydrate for energy and regulates blood glucose levels.  How much carbohydrate do you need and what are the best sources of carbohydrate?  What is the difference between Natural and Added Sugars? Lactose intolerance is discussed. We will be introduced to the regulation of blood glucose by the hormones insulin and glucagon and will learn about health conditions that result from the failure of the body to properly regulate blood glucose. Various diet patterns are discussed relative to their impact on development of chronic diseases. Your instructor will be looking for detailed answers that are both substantive and informative.
