This essay should be composed of three parts: 1) a summary of the theme of the act, 2) a discussion of three of the different artists and their artwork addressed (helpful to have a paragraph on each artist), 3) a paragraph on information that you learned throughout the section. Note: (I have already turned in the first two essays on the first two sections/acts of the book. (Political and kinship) I just need an essay on the final/third act (crafts) of the book. FORMATTING All written assignments must be typed using the following guidelines: 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1” margins, double-spaced, with page numbers. Failure to format properly will result in a lower grade. SOURCES: You are not required to look for outside sources, and indeed, on our assignments you do not need to. However, two things to note: 1) if you quote any of the readings, you need to acknowledge it in the text this way: "The artist speaks to the needs of the middle class" (Thornton 23). Note how the author's name is in parentheses at the end of the sentence, followed by the page number where the quote was taken from. You can use this format for either of the two main books we are using in the class. 2) if you use an outside source - be it a book OR a website, you must provide full information of that source in a bibliography at the end of your paper AS WELL AS cite the source as listed in point #1.
