T‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‍‍‌‍‍he goal of this assignment is to reflect about future goals and to create a plan for goal achievement. Career mapping is common to many industries. It begins with a destination statement, which represents one’s career vision, and includes the identification of career goals. If used as intended, it can strategically be used as a career planning guide to be iteratively revisited and refined as goals are met and your aspirations change (Feetham & Doering, 2015) For this assignment, the student will also think about the “ultimate goal,” of which the career map is a small piece, and with which it aligns. The “ultimate goal” is expressed through the destination statement, as described by Feetham and Doering (2015). (Note: While Feetham and Doering (2015) express the destination statement in terms of the researcher’s scientific career, in this assignment the student will be wording it in terms of your desired (clinical, administrative, scientific, etc.) career destination as you envision it at this time.
