A. Eitzen starts his chapter with a number of reasons for why sports are so important... e.g., it entertains, it is magical, it mirrors the human experience. Can you identify 2-3 other good reasons for the value of sports in society from this chapter? Are there others that he did not mention?
B. Eitzen claims that many fans and participants have a superficial, uncritical attitude that takes much for granted in sports. Do you agree? why do so many display such an attitude? Can learning about the ills of sports lead you to enjoy sports less? i.e., does being naive allow you to be a fan ?
