Questions for Discussion: If you were one of the history teachers, do you believe that transgender rights would be an appropriate topic to debate for the Pop-Off? Is it acceptable for people in general who do not identify with the group of people they are debating about, in this case transgender people, to have a say in what they believe the rights of others should be? Is the forum of the PoP-Off an appropriate place for such a debate? If not, are there alternative spaces that could better suit the discussion? What could the possible effects on transgender students be if this debate happened? If there is a possibility this debate could lead to an unsafe environment for transgender students, is it ethically acceptable to allow this debate to move forward?
