PURPOSE The Blog assignment provides an opportunity to reflect on the application of IPE competencies and sub-competencies to strengthen discipline-specific interdisciplinary practice while contributing to, and benefiting from, a collaborative learning community. Students should have a better understanding of the various practice specialties within a discipline as well as the expertise various disciplines contribute to the interprofessional healthcare team. REQUIREMENTS 1. Students will create an individual Blog by responding to each of the prompts in the course during the academic week (Monday to Sunday). You are encouraged to review the work of your peers throughout the week. 2. You will use the following headings as you develop and organize your content in the Blog: a. Title b. (List the First Competency Chosen) i. (List the first Sub-Competency Chosen) ii. (List the second Sub-Competency Chosen) c. (List the Second Competency Chosen) i. (List the first Sub-Competency Chosen) ii. (List the second Sub-Competency Chosen) d. (List the first strategy to Improve IPE KSAs) e. (List the second strategy to improve IPE KSAs) f. (List the third strategy to improve IPE KSAs) g. Conclusion h. References 3. Review the grading rubric carefully prior to beginning to work, and frequently throughout the process, to be sure you are meeting all expectations. If you have questions or are unsure about anything, please contact your course faculty member. 4. Each required area of the Blog should be adequately developed, fully address each of the required elements, and include support for the information provided in the form of citations with matching references as necessary to prevent plagiarism. You will place all references for the Blog at the end of all Blog entries (one reference page at the end of the Blog). 5. The reference list should include the Internet sources provided and discussed within the Blog and any other sources to prevent plagiarism. 6. Make the information educational, engaging, and professional. Use this as an opportunity to learn while you create the Blog and to teach your peers about the IPE competencies and sub-competencies you are exploring. You will learn from your peers as you peer-review their work next week. 7. Professional grammar, mechanics, and APA style are expected throughout the information presented. Maintain a professional and academic tone. 8. The Blog must address (in each area specified below): a. Title (followed by the introduction content). b. Share how you meet each competency or how you anticipate meeting each competency in your professional practice. What are the challenges to meeting each of the competencies and what do you believe needs to happen within your healthcare setting to overcome these barriers? What stakeholders need to become involved and how could you engage them to improve these competencies? Include a link to a credible Internet source that relates to the IPE competency you have identified (one source for each competency). This source should help others learn more about the competency, support your approach to meeting the competency, or support the value of the competency. Provide an overview of each source and how it relates to the competency. i. (List the first Sub-Competency Chosen): Identify two sub-competencies for the IPE competency chosen, discuss the value of each sub-competency to your practice and your discipline, and provide examples of how you will promote the sub-competencies in future practice.
