Peggy McIntosh wrote a classic article entitled White Privilege: Unpacking the Invisible Knapsack. You can read the article here: https://www.racialequitytools.org/resourcefiles/mcintosh.pdf The article has three parts 1) Daily effects of white privilege 2) Elusive and Fugitive and 3) Earned strength, unearned power. Having read it, you will then write a reaction. I would like to know your thoughts. Do you have any unearned privileges? How sensitive are you to them? For example: As a man, I can leave the building at midnight and not be too concerned about my safety as I leave. This is an example of an unearned privilege I have. Are women likely to have the same attitude? How would you relate McIntosh's thoughts to the workplace?
