After completing the Analyzing Daily Life activity, "Comparative Mealtimes," in Chapter 12 (page 374 of the eBook), answer the following questions:
What are the prevailing rules, rituals, norms, and values associated with the setting and situation? For example, does everyone sit down to eat at the same time? Do people leave after they finish even if others are still eating?
What kids of complementary roles are the various participants engaged in? Who cooks the food, sets the table, clears the table, does the dishes, and so forth?
What social purposes do the setting or situation serve other than providing a mealtime environment for the participants? What kind of interactions do you see?
