First, a summary of the book’s arguments and major themes, and second, some kind of response from you—your thoughts, judgment, analysis, and argument. They should be 4-5 pages each, typed, double-spaced, with 1 inch margins and 12 pt Times New Roman font. I realize that most of us aren’t professional writers, but you should try to improve with each paper and you can at least avoid sloppy mistakes by using your spell check tool, for example. Please print all papers (no email) and turn them in at the start of class on the day they’re due. Late papers will be docked at least one grade (e.g., B+ to B, B to B-) for each day late. I may choose to dock it more than that if you attended the class in which we discussed the book and benefitted from the discussion in a way your classmates did not.
