Description: The goal of the historical research essay is to prove the thesis you develop to be
true. You need to create a theory about this time period. Your ability to take information and apply a historical analysis to the
factual information you present as support. Essentially, the essay
demonstrates your ability to communicate your understanding and interpretation of the
importance of a historical event to an interested audience (myself, your peers, and other
historians).
