Content Analysis Guidelines:
Throughout the semester, you will take a closer look at 4 of the 5 major units in the
course through a short content analysis (2pgs, 12pt font, double spaced). Of the 4
content analysis you will complete, three of those will be graded. You may forgo
completing a fourth content analysis only if you receive an exemplary grade on at least
two other submissions. In total, content analysis is worth 20% of your final grade for the
course. Any content analysis on the first two units will be due the Thursday before
Spring Break (March 10th) and the final three units will be due at the end of class on
May 3rd, unless otherwise specified.
Your paper should include:
● A brief summary of the key themes and concepts throughout the unit
● Explicit discussion of at least 2 sources within the unit i.e. “Patricia Hill Collins in
her piece ‘Toward a New Vision’ discusses interlocking oppressions (1993).”
● Discussion of a related current event that exemplifies a theme or concept
● Proper citations for all sources used, including any sources used for the current
event example
