1. It has to be a classical concert performed by professional musicians. If you doubt, please ask me for approval. 2. Must watch the full Concert and make sure to provide the proper link. 3. The paper should be typed and double-spaced, and should not exceed three pages. 4. If you want to do some research, plagiarism is strongly prohibited. If you copy or paraphrase published (or on-line) material, or another person’s research, you must identify the sources. 5. The concert report should include terminology discussed in class (as it applies)!!! 6. Discuss each of the pieces performed including relevant biographical data about the composer and information about where and when the piece was written. This should include terminology discussed in class!! 7. Listen to the recording before you attend the concert. 8. You can include these in the paper: A. Who was performing? B. What instruments? C. If there’s more than one performer, what did you observe about how the musicians made music together? D. How did the audience (if there is any) or you react to the performance? E. Did the performers interact with audience (if there is any) or you? F. What did you think about the selection and the order of the pieces? G. Why do you think the concert program included the specific pieces that it did? H. What was your favorite piece? Why? I. Did the music remind you of anything else? (musical, arts or something else?) J. Could you imagine this performance being successful in another space? K. Would you change anything? What and Why? L. Include any other observations and opinions!! Always try to include terms from class (ex. “soprano was singing a beautiful elaborated passage with lots of trills” or “the orchestra was making a huge dynamic contrast at the end of the 4th movement”).
